Hotwire Foam Cutting Machine Safety
The MASTER SCULPTOR is equipped with a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter), which helps protect the operator and others from electrical shock. Most people are familiar with GFCI protected electrical outlets in the bathroom of their home. The SCULPTOR machines use a similar industrial GFCI to protect personnel.
The hotwires on foamcutting machines are very exposed, they carry dangerous voltages and amperages, and they are very small in diameter and so can be hard to see. The hotwires are made safer by powering them through an isolation transformer (optional). This gives added protection to personnel from shock and prevents nuisance trips of the GFCI caused by accidental grounding of the hotwire (for example: if a hotwire breaks and falls onto a conductive part of the machine).
While the machine is cutting, hitting any key on the keyboard will cause the wire to come to an immediate stop and turn off. Clicking the resume button onscreen will allow cutting to resume.
